Karen Folgner

KL Folgner is a representational and abstract artist residing in both the Bay Area and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Much of her inspiration is drawn from the post WWII abstract expressionist painters of San Francisco, particularly the Sausalito Six. When working with representation in mind, attention is paid to color, balance, texture and form, just as any of her abstract paintings. Each piece is intended to evoke an essence of a moment, oftentimes a bookmark in her personal life. In more recent times, Karen has delved into the three dimensional world of bronze sculpture. Her paintings have materialized through patient process into solid works of spacial art. Space, form, material, color, texture, light, scale and context all deliver content in each unique piece. Karen has won many accolades in worldwide juried competitions and actively participates in group and solo exhibitions in the United States.
